BC024 – Five Mixes: Rock-star DJ sets, 1967-2006
Bowie! Dylan! Sly! R.E.M.! A punk and his music!
Bowie at the Beeb.
No, these are not the kind of “rock star DJ sets” that you might have once heard at MisShapes in New York in the mid-2000s, where people wore T-shirts that said “No Beatmatching.” Well, guaranteed there’s none here, either, but it’s not a statement—instead, these are radio sessions (or thereabouts) from rock musicians at various junctures of their careers. Given that the most recent is seventeen years old and its host (not DJ) is still out there, perhaps we can settle on “mid-career” for most of these. In any event, it’s educational.
