A few years ago, my friend Mairead Case introduced me by email to Andrew Byrds, the interviews editor of a literary website called Entropy, which is no longer online. Byrds asked if I’d like to participate in an experimental interview series called Hexes/#’s: randomly generated hex color codes and numbers with zero context, to be interpreted as I please. Absolutely yes. My method became: go to a folder and type something and follow it. (The exceptions—Stones, Farley, Lowe—were written newly for it.) This was the result.
