Surely you remember The Daily? This was Rupert Murdoch’s attempt at an “iPad newspaper,” laid out like one across the screen, turnable, available by subscription . . . yeah, it didn’t last very long. But I did a handful of rather enjoyable pieces for them, the most instantly notorious—it even got a response piece by Gavin Edwards in The Observer! which itself was subsequently named by Salon as one of the most unnecessary oral histories of all time—was this result of a thinkpiece pitch gone awry.
