We Are Fugazi from Washington, D.C. (US: Joe Gross, Jeff Krulik, and Joseph Pattisall, 2023)

The only way to see We Are Fugazi from Washington, D.C. is to attend an in-person screening. As the audience at the 9 p.m. show last night in Minneapolis’s Trylon learned from the spoken intro by Sound Unseen’s Jim Brunzell, this is a film that will only be screened in person—not streamed and not sold. You owe it to yourself to see it, no matter what music you may think you like, or don’t. If the dynamics of group interplay interest you, you should see this film. If you are intrigued by the way human bodies, spurred by music, interact with their surroundings, you should see this film. More than once I was so jolted by what I saw and heard I thought I might rupture something. It’s one of the most powerful musical documents I’ve ever seen.
